Tim McGraw Tickets – Country Turns Hip-Hop (Again)
Nashville’s biggest heartthrob Tim McGraw has surprised fans in the past with atypical collaborations (think Nelly and “Over and Over,”) and this Southern-fried country musician is at it again, this time with “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper)” rapper T-Pain. McGraw and T-Pain both met recently when making appearances on an episode of Saturday Night Live, and talk over going into the studio together emerged then and there.
While nothing has officially been nailed down yet, both McGraw and T-Pain have been talking up a storm, T-Pain even letting E! Online in on the nature of the collaboration, saying, “The hip-hop has been done with Tim and Nelly, so we gotta be more country than hip-hop.” With a partnership in the wings, T-Pain continues onward with tour dates alongside Lil Wayne, Keyshia Cole, Gym Class Heroes and Keri Hilson, while McGraw delves further into an innovative style, even reportedly contributing to an upcoming single “Human,” set to appear on hip-hop prince Chris Brown’s upcoming album.
Though it seems Tim McGraw has ditched his cowboy getup for some time with blinged out gold grill-baring hip-hop, the longtime country music icon will always stick to his roots, which take him back to Delhi, Louisiana. The son of baseball star and Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Tug McGraw (though he didn’t know it until later in life,) Tim McGraw played baseball at Northeast Louisiana University until 1989, when he dropped out of school and bounded down the path of musical freedom, instantly making his way to Nashville. McGraw scored a recording contract with Curb in 1992, releasing his debut single “Welcome to the Club” soon thereafter. The single was a mild disappointment and failed to make the charts, yet everything changed for this up-and-coming star in 1994 when McGraw’s sophomore album Not a Moment Too Soon dropped. Propelled by smash singles “Don’t Take the Girl,” “Refried Dreams” and “Down on the Farm,” Not a Moment Too Soon burst onto the country music charts at number one, selling more than five million copies while thrusting the name of this backwoods Louisiana country boy into the national spotlight.
1995′s All I Want and the killer single “I Like It, I Love It” made Tim McGraw known as no one-hit wonder, and the smooth country crooner has been rocking the charts ever since, breezing through the rest of the ’90s with hits such as “She Never Lets It Go to Her Heart,” “Maybe We Should Just Sleep on It,” “Everywhere” and “Where the Green Grass Grows.” McGraw married fellow country music idol Faith Hill in 1996, and together this double-threat burned up the charts with duets such as “It’s Your Love” and “Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me.”
In the 2000s, Tim McGraw has kept the country music industry happy with a steady flow of hits, releasing chart-topping albums Greatest Hits (2000), Set This Circus Down (2001), Live Like You Were Dying (2004), Greatest Hits Vol. 2: Reflected (2006), Let It Go (2007) and Greatest Hits 3 (2008).
