what’s your opinion about the book “Purpose Driven Life“?
is it a good book or not? a friend gave me a copy of it as a birthday present, so I guess I have to read it.
First of all, let me say that it is Very Rare that I start a book and don’t finish it. OK, that being said, this book sucks. If this is really the idealism of modern religion we are doing much worse than I thought. Honestly, it’s been some time since I read it (or half of it anyway), so I don’t remember much in the way of detail, but I remember thinking it was a waste of paper. First of all I have a fundamental problem with any doctrine that assumes we are inherently flawed. I realize that most of the worlds mainstream religions hold this as truth and you can extrapolate from there. I would argue instead that we are, in fact, inherently perfect from a religious standpoint. After we are created by God and God is perfect. Did he make a mistake? According to the definition of a perfect God he couldn’t have, thus we must be perfect.
Sorry, I got off topic. Anyway, aside from a few basic ideas that had merit, the book was trash. Absolute rubbish. I pity anyone who has to read it and anyone who actually agrees with it even more.
