What is the probability of carrying skin discoloration to next generation?
If I marry a girl whose metarnal grand mother is affected by skin discoloration (don’t know if it is vitiligo or other disorder!!!!), what is the probability that it can carry to next generation? What should I do…?
I dont know anything about that disease. Going off the prior respondent, it may not even be genetically inheritable. However, assuming that a particular disease is inheritable…
The question stands, is the condition a recessive or a dominant trait? Most diseases are recessive. In that case, the grandmother was homogeneous recessive.
Assuming that much, we can be certain that her mother did indeed inherit the trait from grandma. If her grandpa was clean, not a variable, then we can say that mother was heterogeneous. Mother wont manifest any condition.
If your girlfiends dad was clean, also, then your girlfriend only stands a 50% of being clean and a 50% of inheriting a heterogeneous recessive trait. Either way, she wont manifest either.
If You Are clean and your girlfriend is clean, so will your kids. If you are clean and your girlfriend possess a recessive trait, then your children stand a 50% chance of being clean and a 50% of inheriting a recessive trait.
All in all, complete uncertainty in all generations, your kids stand a 75% chance of being clean and a 25% chance of inheriting a recessive trait. In any case, your kids wont manifest either.
